4 of the Most Unique Trophies You’ve Ever Seen

Awards have been around for ages, perhaps as long as people. The Ancient Romans, for instance, would give out various types of crowns for soldiers who won an important battle or saved other Roman soldiers.

Romans weren't the only ones to celebrate achievements, though. It would likely be harder to find a culture that didn't honour important acts or events.

Some of the most unique awards have come from the minds of modern people. We'll talk about some of the most unique trophies in the paragraphs below.

1. Dubai Desert Classic

Let's start our list of unique trophies with one that's not all that strange. Sure, it looks like a mix between a genie's lamp and a decorative vase, but it still gives the impression of being a trophy. People will look at it and instantly know that you've won something.

Plus, the design is somewhat understandable, given that it's traditionally used as a water jug after the game. One of the 'perks' of winning is that you have to pour everyone's water at dinner afterward.

The idea of a 'cup' trophy dates back to the ancient Greeks, and it's been a classic ever since, even if the cup has a strange shape at times.

2. Formula One Chinese Grand Prix

The biggest complaint about this trophy is that it's very colourful for a trophy. Instead of looking like a solid piece of metal, it almost looks like it was built with legos.

It has a red and yellow colour scheme that makes it seem somewhat childish for a professional sport. It's not a bad design, but the colour ruins it.

3. Paribas Masters

While awards in the shape of a tree are not a bad idea, this Parisian tennis trophy really misses the mark. It almost seems like the creators couldn't decide between a charming cartoon design or a stunning realistic design, so they went with a design that looks like a 2nd grader made it out of clothespins and a ruler.

The truly sad thing is that with a small twist, this could be a decent design. Carving a deer's head into the base saves this trophy. The branches look nothing like branches, but they'd be great as antlers.

4. LPGA Longs Drugs Trophy

The name says it all for this women's golf trophy. Drugs could very easily explain this design.

Unfortunately, Longs Drugs was a pharmaceutical company that was bought out by CVS several years ago, meaning that mind-altering substances probably had nothing to do with this trophy's design.

The idea behind it is pretty clear. It's supposed to be a golf ball making an arc in the air after being hit. This arc, however, creates a shape with a very different connotation.

Suffice it to say that it's best to look at a design from every angle before you approve it.

The Most Unique Trophies in the History of Sports
